Shades
So frustrating!
I must have given Eva gluten. Or lactose. Or soy? She had more vomiting and diarrhea yesterday. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what it was...? Maybe I started to feel too comfortable in knowing what ingredients are in what and got a little lazy. Everything was going so well! Hope she is better today - a little off this morning, but the rest of the day is still ahead.

Happy Birthday to me!
So Sean, Andy and Jen threw me a surprise party for my 34th. I was honestly surprised and it was great! I thought it was funny that he wanted to go to dinner at 5:30 and that he wanted to dress nice but just went with it. I think everyone should have a surprise party at least once. After the shock of seeing people in my house, I looked in the kitchen and saw presents and a really cute cupcake cake. There were streamers and balloons - how cool was that?! Needless to say, I had one of the best birthdays ever. Way to go guys!!! Thanks to everyone who came and to those who couldn't but wanted to. Love, Hugs and Kisses!

Quick note
Just posting to say that things are great! Eva is back to her "normal" self. Her appetite is once again HUGE and she is throwing tantrums with the best of 'em :) I'll take it! What a sigh of relief.

The right decision
Well, we almost made it through the weekend. Everything has been great since last Thursday. The diarrhea is just about gone and we hadn't had any vomiting since last Sunday...until last night. She woke us around 1:30ish. Poor girl had climbed out of bed and made it to the door before getting sick. She tried to come get us. At least the clean-up was easier this time - no sheets to change. So, I'm not sure if it's just the last little bit getting out of her system, or if I accidentally gave her something with gluten (it's quite challenging to know everything it's found in), or if the acid reducer isn't working and it's due to that, or if it's her teeth. Yes, I'm still on that. But - once a week is WAY better than once a day! So, it looks like things are headed in the right direction.

Did you know...
they make a lactose, soy and gluten free cheese?! Not sure what it's actually made of, but Eva likes it and that's all that matters. :)

3rd Doctor's opinion
So we have some new possibilities. Eva and I went to see a 3rd doctor this morning. I've heard great things about him and had an inside connection for an immediate appointment. (Thanks Mike and Lee) After an extensive question and answer session, he believes Eva may have an allergy to soy. After deducing her allergy to cow's milk, Sean and I put her on soy. But apparently half of those who are allergic to cow's milk are also allergic to soy. He also believes she may have an allergy to gluten. This was my gut feeling several weeks back. Guess it's true when they say mom knows best. Anyway, she may also be experiencing some acid reflux which would explain the vomiting at night. So, we are drastically changing her diet (no lactose, soy or gluten) and have a prescription for an acid reducer to take just before bed. If all this works, we'll keep the new diet for about 6 months. At that point we may try to re-introduce gluten and see what happens. Hopefully we should see some results in a week to 10 days. If this doesn't work - we'll go to a pediatric specialist. But in the mean time, cross your fingers for us. I feel like this is it. I really think this is the ticket.

Well, no change really. We've now had blood work done, abdominal rads, an upper GI, and a second stool culture run. She's still vomiting once a day and the diarrhea is still an issue. I feel terrible for her! She doesn't want to eat. But I don't blame her - I wouldn't either if that were me. I thought it may be due to her teeth again. Her molars looked a little swollen the other day but not today. So we're going on the 6th week of diarrhea and the 10th day of vomiting. UUGGHH!!!
